Anyone up for this Saturday? Sunday? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 6
Am taking a friend out for his first ever sail outing. However, I know if circumstances were reversed, I'd like this, so here it is: anyone interested in some sail time, seeing as how most of your boats are on the hard? If so, let me know, let's see what we can arrange. Supposed to be 'close' to 60 degrees, last I heard...

Hey Gary I was going to make a post tonight asking if you are ready for our annual November sail. I see you are ahead of me.

As much as I would love to join you this weekend, I have a new gig working Nuke plant outages. Currently @ Point Beach North of Two Rivers working 6-12s and only have Mondays off. I need to get down there and swap out our buoy for winter log. If there is any chance of you getting a Monday off it would be great to keep our tradition alive. I am booked this next one but open after that.
Burger and beers on me.

Most likely work something out. My wife has been reminding me for the last two weeks that, every year, I sail to the last moment, then complain about it. Although she's right (I do), I continue to try to explain to her that I don't complain about sailing so late into the season, but rather, am complaining about having to dick around, wet to my arm pits, fighting to put the damned stick in, bouy out (while balancing a small dinghy) with torso and heavy arm pressure/weight over the side of the dinghy. Yep, nice being wet in 36 degree weather with wind howling! And, I must admit, once I get the boat into the back yard, it IS nicer to then prep and cover it for the winter without first having to scrap snow and ice melt off the boat.

But what is to be done? This seems like the summer that wasn't, seeming I hardly ever got to sail what with projects, kid's activities tying me up, etc.

Oh, well, life is a breeze!

But, certainly, we can arrange a sail outing. Second round is on me! PM me the date, once you confirm it all. Then, all we have to do is hope for decent weather and wind. Hopefully we won't get stuck 'inside' like last year.

My dinghy is rather large in the rear end, so I can just pull the chain up a bit and lash it to the stern corner of the dinghy. Then I can fight with the mooring ball at my leisure. After the stick is clipped on, I just unlash and let it flop over the side. Next year I am going to keep my boat in until mid November. A few extra weeks in the spring and fall makes the season seem much longer.

Very true, Gordon. Sailing late into the year DOES make the winter seem shorter. Or, at least, I start missing and pining away about the lack of sailing on this board later than others seem to do. And a sailing hiatus from late November (or even early December, weather permitting) to, say, mid April only SEEMS like 'a couple' of months, even though it's longer.

I expect to be down at the boat tomorrow morning in case anyone's interested in a sail.

You guys missed an incredible day for sailing. I am still stunned at how lovely it was. Seven hours of bliss. Saw you headed for your boat as I was coming in, Gene. Hope you had as much fun as I did.

Just a totally cool, great day. Got quite brisk later on, with about 7' lazy combers well out. An entire sky full of sunshine with just enough spray to enjoy it. Well, except that one drenching, lol's. No offense, but man, I kinda felt sorry for some of you guys for missing out.

Thirty-five degrees when I took off this morning. Like every November, it suprises me later on to realize that I sunburned my face. Guess I just don't contemplate burning when the weather is this nice.

I love November sailing.

That's great Gary!! The lake looked great by Two Rivers and I was hoping you had the same conditions and made it out. Glad you did and had a good sail and of course wish I were there.

That sunburn though may have been frostbite.

Nah, not that bad out, actually. Probably got up well into the 40's as the day wore on, maybe even hit the 50 degree mark they'd predicted. Hey, call me, confirm when you want to go out. This year I've not taken advantage of using my friend's slip, now that his boat is out. As such, I think I'll pull sooner, rather than later. Also, I'm not sure when the Round House ramp will pull their last launch/recovery slip.

Otherwise, I guess I could wrap the through-bolts on my winter stick with carpet scraps (to protect my hull when becalmed) and replace the bouy now... then simply moor to the stick...

Saturday? (Zack has 'dibs' ;^) 6 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 6
This Saturday is supposed to be sunny, and in the mid 50's. Zack has 'dibs' if interested, as he's going to let me park the last week or so in his empty slip (will be nice to get the stick in when it's 50 degrees for a change).

Anyone else interested? Jerred? Sunday's suposed to be pretty decent, hopefully I can get down there then, too. Let me know

Ev: Monday is looking good. Chance of showers, but I believe we've been there before in November. I'm trying to twist Zack's arm for later Monday; would like to introduce the two of you to each other.

Yep been there before w/ that for cast and had a great time.

Would be nice to meet Zakk if he can make it. Everyone from the early days here seems to have moved away or gone missing.
