If time and money were of no consequence, where would you sail to? I think, beside my Mediterranean cruise, I'd love to island hop around Fiji and other islands of the South Pacific, the more barren and deserted the better.
Probably won't talk my wife into such an adventure, but who knows... maybe she'll love cruising when we get into it more.

for me it would be through the great lakes, out the st. lawrence, winter on the east coast, then bermuda, the azores, portugal. after that, get my toes wet in med and then turn around and complete the circle...

A destination is beside the point. Good friends, good breezes and flat seas (and temps above 50) are heaven, whether I can see the smoke stacks of Gary, Indiana or palms or majorca.

By complete the circle do you mean cut back across the north Atlantic to Nova Scotia or back to Bermuda?
You hear so many stories of cruisers in Bermuda. It's gotta be filled with folks on Atlantic passages.

no, it would be a trade winds circle, back via the canary islands, cape verde, and across to either northeastern south america or the southestern caribbean. then you could meander around the caribbean and central america, head through the canal and off to the galapagos, etc. what a trip, eh?

I don't know which would be my ultimate destination but it would be some place tropical! I wouldn't mind the Caribbean but it would have to be some of the more remote/unvisited areas. There was a tread a while back on another site following and Australian who bought a boat in San Francisco and sailed it back to Oz. I fell in love with the south Pacific islands and atolls he stopped at on his way.

So you could say your ultimate sailing destination is anywhere you find yourself so long as it's aboard your boat

A warm beach, clear warm water, and a nice shallow reef to dive on.
The Bahamas fits the bill but there certainly are many other places.
I can't wait to start exploring!
