I've been scouring ebay. If possible, When I'm ready, I'd like to run a possible bid past you so I don't make a big mistake.

I haven't had as much time as I'd like to study but I'm at least getting the terminology down.

I assume the HF transceivers need an antenna tuner box since most full setup seem to include one. I'm also assuming that some of the older mobile units are tuners and will require an amplifier in addition to the tuner.

Am I correct?

I haven't looked close yet but is there a 12 volt setup available the older stuff?

Hi Al,

Antenna tuner, yes. (Automatic ($500) or manual ($70)
Amplifier, no. 100 Watts from the transceiver is enough.
Most Ham transceivers past 1980 are solid state, 12 V.
You need a transceiver with general coverage receiver, 0 to 30 Mhz.
