Bummer Bree!

Do you work in IT as well? Sounds like an all too familiar scenario. Your PDF/PFD joke gave me a hint that you might also be a nerd.

Hope we get nice weather.

vinegarjoe suggests channel 68 for VHF channel so that'll be where to get hold of anyone cruising out there.

I'm planning on getting to the boat ~8AM. Rally east of the main gap at 9am and head out.

Gary, guy, Al? You guys still in?

I know that Guy is out, as he has GOT to attend his daughters graduation ceremony that same date.

Have heard nothing from Al for a couple of months. As such, I have no clue.

There are things about this event I find ludicrous. I won't even mention, like, it starting to appear pretty much as I predicted months ago to some of you guys (oops, I just did, didn't I?).

I am now down to only one (1) individual interested in attending this event. He is a NON-sailor... and I expect him to back out any day now with 'something' coming up. Having 'been there, done that', I have no interest in spending 20-24 hours solo glued to the tiller.

So, Bree... nothing wrong with us discussing the possibility of a later outing. The (most) fun of the event is hanging out, sipping and sunning (communication & comeraderie) anyways, far as I'm concerned. Besides, rather chat with a lady, anyways, lol's Besides yourself, how many (experienced) sailors do you have lined up for the event?

I'm back,

Spent a good number of days at the EAA convention slogging through an inland lake that used to be called an airport. I might have been better off taking the sailboat instead of the airplane.

Overall a very good time. I watched as Jack Rousch crashed his biz jet in front of me. Damn nice airplane, TOTALLED. I was relieved to see him walk out. Saw two other accidents of the "fender bender" type. Lots and lots of beautiful airplanes.

Anyway, Deb will be undergoing outpatient foot surgery on Friday. We'll see how involved it gets once they open it up. The doc says anywhere from simple with hardly any down time to complex with a 3-4 month recovery. We shall see.

If it's minimal, she still wants to go depending on the weather of course. Big waves will be a no-go. If it's in the middle and she can get around at home, I'll probably go by myself or grab a crew member. If she's hurting bad, I'll stay home and keep her company.

if this forecast holds (which it probably won't), should be good wind for the sail.....

Saturday: W wind 5 to 12 kt becoming SSW in the afternoon. Mostly sunny. Waves 1 ft or less.

Saturday Night: SW wind 13 to 16 kt. Partly cloudy. Waves 1 to 2 ft.

Sunday: SSW wind 15 to 17 kt. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Waves 2 to 3 ft.

Sunday Night: SW wind 10 to 16 kt. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Waves around 2 ft.

Looks like it'll be a decent sail... I haven't been to my boat in two weeks - I hope the spiders haven't grown large enough to man the tiller and drive her off.

I've got two gentleman coming with me aboard Winsum Wind. One the recent seller of Braveheart to Wayne and another non-sailor from work. Should be a nice cruise.

Al - I hope your wife makes it through surgery well!

We'll be on channel 68 for anyone looking to join up throughout the day. You'll probably be able to catch us as both WW and VinegarJoe are heavy full-keelers.

Just got back from the outpatient surgery place.

The surgery was scheduled for about 45 minutes but went almost 2 1/2 hours.

Two fixation screws placed in her foot. Lots of nausea but not too much pain so far.

She will not be going for sure. I'm still on hold waiting to see how she progresses tonight. If I was to bet, I'd bet against it. She's pretty wobbly on the crutches which makes me a little nervous about leaving.

Ironically, I am out. Go figure, what with this event originally being my idea. I was down to one non-sailor as crew, and returned from Minnesota this evening (a few hours ago, as it's now Saturday morning) only to be told that he couldn't make it due to some family emergency. Must have a little Nostradomus (sp?) in me...

I also note the expected wind is pretty light, to light for me for that long of a haul, anyway. I'd much rather make it doing 5.5 or 6.5 knots good, rather than 3.4 to 4.2 knots good. Remember guys, if everything is perfect, straight line, but average 5... that's still ten (10) hours one way. And usually doesn't seem to be perfect, does it?

Anyway, am going to try to get up early, head down, maybe see some of you guys off. Can't miss me, as I'll be the one with the 'envy green' sails...

Fair winds, friends
