Given the way summers fill up, I think we ought to try and nail down a date for the mid-lake buoy run.

I had initially thought that it would be good to shoot for July sometime as things will be a bit warmer than June, but I know that's a busy month for regattas.

Would you guys prefer an August/September time or June?

We'll narrow it down from there...

The Hook and the Mac are July 24th... I know Guy and some others will be participating in one or the other of those races...

We could do August 7th. This would give the spouses one weekend home with their significant others before another weekend of being out on the lake.

July 31st would work for me too.. but I'm just thinking we might not get as many people..

Thoughts?

Build it and they will come. Both dates work for me. If the 31st, this would be a participation event for the family.

There is nothing half so worth doing as simply messing about in boats

How does July 31st sound?

All in favor say "Aye"

As far as parameters for the trip... I'd say we try to leave at generally the same time. Hang out at the buoy for a little bit, go for a swim maybe?

How many boats? I'll be taking WW, Sushi Bucket? Guy? Vinegar Joe? MSN-Traveler (Paul)? Brainula? maybe Lyra gene? Tursiops Al? Wayne? John maybe you can try out your 16 footer on the big lake?

Anybody's welcome so feel free to include yourself if I didn't mention you above...

July 31st sounds good to me.

The swimming might be questionable if the lake isnt any warmer than last year.

Last year I got my anchor line wrapped around the rudder stem (hey, it can happen!!) and thought I was going to die while I swam around the boat to dislodge it.

Might be warmer by July.. I haven't swam in the deep stuff in Lake Michigan in many years so who am I to say. I go to Bender park on occasion and hop in the water, but that's shallow stuff baked by the sun all day.

I'm jumpin in cold or not.. weather/safety permitting

So we've got a date of 7/31

I would love to join in but it would take a miracle to not be working that day. And I would need a ride.
