Aw, come on guys, be nice! Can't we all get along? I mean, I outgrew all that crazy stuff a year or two back. Now I sail like a virginal old maid on a spirited stud horse (oooh!).
Besides, I've only sailed one time in the 40+ knot category, and all she finally did was knock me flat (repeatedly!!), and then proceed to forcefully drive Sushi underwater. Honest, I didn't intend it, just got caught by the storm, and it wasn't my fault we were the last ones in to safety by an hour.
Heck, I won't even sail in the 30's anymore! Well... unless I've got at least one good, solid, dependable sailor on board with me, LOL's!
Two would be even better!
Truth is, I don't even sail solo that much anymore if it's into the 20's. Sure, fun for a bit, but got to focus to much. More enjoyable if I can swap off the tiller now and then, relax, enjoy the outing.
Two years ago, I think it was, I was sailing solo in upper 20-somethings. No other boat would go out, it was pretty damned rough (5'rs?), VERY quick chop between the swells, when I found that body in the water.
Anyway, recovering that body for the Coast Guard... keeping her while awaiting their arrival... kind of reminded me that it's always nice to have a sailor along, or at least someone who could at least manage to luff her into the wind for me as I swam back to the boat in case of an accident.
POINT BEING: accidents happen. Sailing in the extreme blows when they catch you by suprise is just something that you *have* to do.
But makes no damned sense to go looking for trouble...
However, all that long-winded spew aside, I'm looking forward to assisting (i.e. rail meat) Guy when he puts 'Spore' (??) through her sea trials, and I know he'll be as happy as me to run her through the 30's!
Yeah! Come on, spring!
