Anyone have a copy of the DVD or e-format of this movie? The trailer looks great and I'd love to watch the whole film.

Had never heard of him. Looks to be a good movie and a very interesting guy. When the admiral gets up for work I am going to ask for purchase approval.

I think this is a good read if you have a few minutes;

I see the link didn't copy right but if you copy and search it the link comes up. Sorry

Chris, I've got a copy of the DVD. I've also got some other interesting video sailing stuff (one that is a real keeper is on a CD, yes, CD....a trip on an old Pearson Wanderer from California to the Galapagos and back). Happy to loan out to you...

Thanks!!! That looks like a great little film, except for the nude scene in the cockpit there... could've done without that

Got my copy and watched it yesterday. Pretty cool movie and it is fun to listen to him. Really hear his emotions. Interesting to see his jury rigged mast and other fixes. And the fact that he built the self-steering system himself and now markets it. Haven't watched the promo for it yet. The rough seas made the wife nervous. I told her we will just avoid such conditions.

And there is more than one nude scene but it was fun watching the 16 year old squirm.

Yeah, well, unless it's a female... AND decent looking, at that... I'm homophobic and proud!

My wife bought me this for my birthday. I really enjoyed it. That Southern Ocean does not look all that inviting. I don't know how people endure those conditions for such long stretches. I've been out in a storm for about 6 - 8 hours with a crew and it's exhausting even with a rotation. The constant pitching and rolling makes everything so difficult. I remember hanging off the boom trying to get the clew tied in a reef while swing about and trying to do darn near anything at the foredeck is darn near terrifying as you get thrown up and down like you're on the long end of a huge and violent teeter totter.

To do it single-handed in seas many times more rough than anything Lake Michigan has is impressive. It's a fascinating challenge and I'm starting to understand why people want to go down there.
