Launched Sunday evening! Ran into a few minor issues which held me up. Didn't have time to step the mast, so just put her on the mooring (if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to have some helping hands when I step the mast, as otherwise I am one hand short for the foil system). HINT: If you're boatless, here's a chance to make a sailing acquaintance...
And my depth sounder is toast! Cracked seals, and the case also cracked TDC! Oh, well, I slapped her shut with a fabricated seal, squeezed in some 5200 for good measure... I don't know. Maybe she'll come around, maybe not, but I'm thinking toast. She turned on at the mooring, but didn't display any (readable?) depth. And to top it all off, I find that my port side 'port' is cracked, too! Thick tinted plexiglass, 5, maybe 6' long. Damn! Well, thank goodness for electrical tape, seeing as how I had no duct tape handy!

The sailor responds to the subtle shifting of the wind, the imperceptible ebbing of the tide. He changes course. He trims his sheets. He sails.

Hey Gary -- I've never stepped a mast before and I'd be happy to give you a hand. When would you be doing this? Saturday would work, but Sunday won't... Wife's first mother's day

Saturday is do-able. Son has a morning Little League game, however. Saturday afternoon?
Stepping the mast is VERY easy on my boat(as long as nothing goes wrong!). Delicate foot work, as we're on the water, vice being on the hard (boat movement). Usually done solo, I find an extra set of hands nice, as I'm otherwise dealing with the mast in one hand, the hoisting halyard (and pulling) with the other hand, and then throwing the foil over my neck so as to keep it from sticking into the deck as the mast is stepped. If you can/want to make it, do as I do: tell the wife it'll TAKE A FEW HOURS... that way we can catch some extra sail time!
Assuming you'd like to catch some air with me after stepping?
Gary
P.S. still have my telephone number? I may have misplaced yours...
***P.P.S. does anyone know where I can get some 1/4" thick smoked plexiglass? Bonus would be if they'd cut the thing for me, using my old OEM one as the pattern.

smoked plexiglass...maybe Kendor Marine (414 421 4370). if they don't have any, they probably know where you can get it. they also may be able to cut it for you.

Otherwise, try midland plastics in New Berlin Industrial Park.
They'll have it, but not that kind of service. I'd loan you my jig saw and router. . .

GREG: Chris and I have a 'tentative' schedule of stepping the mast sometime early Saturday afternoon. If that works for you, shoot me a PM with your phone number, and we'll see what we can work out. (Hey! Please mention your name, as I otherwise refuse to even try to remember people's names who post/list as Tomatopaste, rubberneck007... you know, something other than their real name? Just to hard for me, as I'm bad with real names, anyway).
VINEGARJ: thanks. I like Kendor's, should have thought of them myself.
GUY: thanks to you, also. Plus, I hadn't even thought of a router. Never used one in my life. If I cannot get it cut to size, could I throw myself at your mercy and skill with your router? (With me, if I don't get 'cracking' at the plexiglass sometime soon... I'll find that piece of electrical tape still covering the crack come fall!

I agree w/ Guy's router suggestion. A jig can easily be made of plywood for a smooth cut.
Wish my wife was still running the computer aided router table. You could check w/ the larger sign companies. The set-up time may be expensive if only doing a piece or two but the work is very precise. They can be a good source for many plastics also.
If I had 100k for investing I would get a table. There is no end to what you could do for your boat both practical and fancy work.
