Good morning! I found this site while poking around the net and love the idea of a local MKE-only sailors forum. I've been sailing for about 15 years on boats from 12' to 31'. I currently have a small boat that we keep up on Lake Winnebago (my folks have a lake house up in Fond du Lac). I'm looking to get out on the water more often this year and have already been in touch with SSYC about skippers needing crew. Any advice?

Hey John - Welcome!

Glad you found the site. What you're looking for is the whole point of the site. Get people out on the water and connected in the local community. I was just out on Gary's boat this last weekend. Great sail! (Thanks again Gary!)

Some here have boats, and others, like me, are lusting after them.

Glad to have you on the site and hope to see you around the lakefront. As far as crewing on a boat... just telling everyone here you are looking to get out on the water will probably be sufficient. I've also found that hanging around the bar at SSYC on race days gets you out as well

Lots of good people here. As the summer progresses I'll be out on my boat more often.

Chris has even talked me into trying out the local race scene. I'm a new sailor and sailboat owner so it's a pretty steep learning curve but a "LOT OF FUN".

John, have you found anyone to get out with yet? I'm going to be bugging someone on here in the next week to mooch some tiller/wheel time. Maybe we can coordinate an outing?

Hey Chris! Yep, I'm racing on Phantom out of SSYC on Wednesdays and occasionally on Fridays. We did the Queen's Cup too. I think considering that, I doubt I'd be able to make more time available during the week (I've got two young ones at home).
Thanks for remembering me and I hope you have fun! Maybe the wind will pick up one of these days.
