New member here -

Presently live in Wauwatosa.

Got my start in sailing at Sailing Center in the early 90's. Then Racing got into my blood - mostly short-course, one-design.

Racing crew on Soling most recently (into 1996)
Racing crew on J-24 prior to that

I used to be pretty adept at:
-tuning the rig
-flying "chutes" (symmetrical types)
-basic tactics

Right now, I would be a big piece of "rail meat", with technical knowledge and the ability to learn rapidly. (I'm sure that it'll all come back to me quickly.)

Not presently an owner, but more than willing to crew on almost anything.

Numerous guest appearances on several other boats over the years, including a day of fun on E-scows.

So, what's the general "flavor" of this site:
-Mostly cruisers or racers?
-Any medial age bracket?

Well, I'm "out" for now. Looking forward to re-establishing some connections around here.

Welcome sailhoundmke.

We won't be in the water till next season so no crew opportunities now. More than welcome next year. You should have no trouble picking up a ride this season.

I think age, type, and experience here have a wide range. We have 2.5 grandkids and are just learning most of this. We will be cruisers in a few years.

All the best, Everett

Hi there sailhound!
Welcome to the forum. I know there was some talk about people looking for someone who could fly a chute... so I'm sure your experience will be welcomed... rusty or not I'm not currently a boat owner, but will be for the 2010 season. My wife says it doesn't make sense to buy a boat during the season that we had a baby, I work full time and go to school... phhhh!

I've done some racing, but never on a real fast boat like a scow. Those things look like fun! I sail primarily out of MCSC on J's, Solings and Ensigns as well, but all the owners on this site seem more than willing to offer up a spot on their boats so I think we'll be enjoying a great season with a bunch of great folks!

Flavor of the site is whatever you make it. I think we've got a pretty good mix of folks on here and I'm sure you'll find yourself right at home. Welcome!

Welcome to the site. SSYC had a crew search party yesterday I aam sure if you contacted Cookie Mueller she works at MCSC also and told her you werent able to go she could proably get you a form and get you into the computer. Or you could do what i did last spring I went down to SSYC on the first wednesday night of racing and looked for a boat that looks shorthanded and ask for a ride. I got a great ride last season on a Mumm 36 that way. Looking forward to meeting you.

The sailor responds to the subtle shifting of the wind, the imperceptible ebbing of the tide. He changes course. He trims his sheets. He sails.
