Bristol 29 For Sale 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 5
With a heavy heart I'm listing Winsum Wind for sale. Jen and I have decided that we're going to move out West to Seattle. The cost to transport the boat is just not justifiable. (Don't worry the forum shall live on - I'll just be posting about Puget Sound and the Pacific rather than Lake Michigan )

In any case, here are the details:

1970 Bristol 29
Asking: $7500

Model: Bristol 29-Dinette
Designer: Halsey C. Herreshoff
Builder: Bristol Yachts
L-O-A: 29'-11/2"
L-W-L: 22'-8"
Displacement: 8400#
Draft: (Keel model) 4'-6"
Beam: 9"-2"
Ballast: 3,450# lead, securely fiber glassed inside keel
Sleeping capacity: 5
Sail Area: 402 sq. ft.
CCA Rating: 24.4 est.

Dinette layout. Classic full keel design - very stable and easy to sail. Atomic 4 - 30 HP Gasoline engine - Runs like a friggin champ.

Main (like new), Furlex roller furling. 150 genoa (great shape), 130 genoa (also great), standard jib, storm sail (never used), forehatch sail for ventilation, Raymarine tiller pilot, Garmin GPS, Brand new Standard Horizon VHF radio, lazy jacks, single line reefing system, dodger, cockpit solar shower, alcohol/electric stove, brand new whale manual bilge pump, brand new electric bilge pump, new cranking and new house batteries, lots of life jackets, cockpit cushions, fenders, and lots of other stuff I've spent lots of money on and forgotten about.

Respond to this thread or PM me for more info or to come see her.

I saw the ad at Sailboatlistings.com
We'll miss you. Have you already found work out west, or are you just setting sights there?

No job yet. I've got a few irons in the fire and given the job market there I'm hoping it won't take long. We need to sell our house too which hopefully will work out timing-wise. Going to be interesting

Chris, I had good luck selling two prior boats by sending a sheet with a foto of the boat, specs, contact info, etc. to yacht clubs on the west side of the lake. i sent a cover letter asking that the sheet be posted wherever they post "for sale" stuff at their club. fwiw. (hate to see you go...)

Great idea! I'll have to do that.

The decision to leave has not been an easy one... I'll miss you guys as well. Hopefully I'll be sailing soon in the sound and I'll be able to post all sorts of cool pics and stories from out there. I wonder if they sail year round out there?

Best of luck with your move. As a newbie, I've always enjoyed your replies. I hope I can meet my neighbor before you go.

Well the boat is sold It was really hard to let her go... The new owner is currently aboard so if you're in the neighborhood stop by and wish him well. Very nice guy!

Many Many Many thanks to vinegarJoe for helping me get the roller furler fixed and working. Bill, you're patient and methodical approach to boat repair is something I sure hope to achieve one day. Your level of self-efficacy is unmatched

Congrats on the sale.

I hope all goes well with your move to the PNW and you find yourself back on your own boat in the near future. The San Juan's are a fantastic sailing destination.

I can't believe Gary hasn't mentioned it yet! Now that you're boatless, come for a ride. Leaving mooring at 9:30 Saturday.
