Here is a website I have used when trying to learn knots. I thought I would post it as a reference.

Yes Pablo, great site. One of my favorites. And along with the invaluable information presented, there is also a very valuable, not so recognizable at first, feature. On each page right below the name of the knot being illustrated are 4 clicks for

Gene marlin spiking 1 and 2 are the classes I want to take with my wife I think it would be invaluable to learn knots the proper way. The second class is for splicing which I would really like to learn hoe to do. Last year I replaced the main halyard on my Catalina 22 up to where it joins to the wire I just tied a knot there but sometimes it gets caught by the spreaders I would really like to do it the correct way but right now I lack the knowledge.

The sailor responds to the subtle shifting of the wind, the imperceptible ebbing of the tide. He changes course. He trims his sheets. He sails.

Gene, you are so right about the bowline. My dad, a sea scout and navy seaman insisted that I learn how to tie it behind my back.

I can attest to that. Last year, in some rough weather we had to quickly reef. We were in heavy chop and the boat was getting rocked about considerably. I had to get the outhaul pulley tied to the reef point but had to do it from the opposite side. Hanging from the boom, on the wrong side of the boom, I had to try and peer over and tie a bowline while swinging about. If this wasn't enough, the rope was in bad shape, fraying and really difficult to manage. You need to know how to tie a bowline blind...

Although my wife picks on me, I tie knots with a practice line in bed as sailing season approaches...

Oh yeah, and there's a one handed technique too that can come real handy. Too bad I don't know it.

All kidding aside though, there is a way to really tie the bowline quickly by twisting the small loop around the bite then it's around and back down and your done.
