This isn't a sailboat shot per se, but was from my dive boat while vacationing in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt (Tip of the Sinai on the Red Sea). This is a shot of the resort area close to shore. You can see how clear the water is by looking at the reef below.

Here's one more that shows the Sinai itself. It's a barren place - almost nothing grows there. The Red Sea, though, it absolutely gorgeous. Crystal Clear deep blue water and the sky is almost always clear and sunny.

Cool,
Don't know why but I could cruise pictures like these all day, just dreaming of warm clear water.

i'm with you Al. Something about the water just relaxes you. I'd love to see more of your dive excursion Lance. Post here if you like.. Doesn't bother me if they aren't sailing related..

I'll admit I'm the same. Not owning a boat now means I'm often forced, out of necessity, to dream vicariously. I've always been drawn to the water in one way or another.
This one is of a reef off of Ras Mohmmed National Park. You can get the sense that this aren't terribly exciting to see above the water. They just look like moldy blobs, but under the water, they're teaming with life.

This one is interesting for two reasons. First is similar to above. You can see how the top of the reef extends out from shore and then abruptly drops off. The other is the unfinished buildings on shore. Apparently there was a rash of builders that took construction loan money and fled with half-complete buildings. I wasn't clear why that was since the tourist industry there seems to be doing quite well (despite a bombing in the not so distant past). The government is mandating that all these places be completed now, so there was a flurry of new construction while I was there. You can't see it well from this shot, but there's not a lot of heavy machinery in Egyptian construction, even in Cairo. Most work is done by hand with rudimentary tools and equipment.

Here you can really get a sense for how desolate this place is without intervention. The surrounding desert looks like this in every direction about as far as the eye can see. Nothing grows here unless someone provides water (like a hotel watering Palm Trees)

This one shows just how crystal clear this water is. You can see through to the shore in front of this Dive Boat.

Last one. This is me poking my head out of the Thistlegorm wreck. You can see what look like three doors near the front of the ship in this diagram linked below. I'm poking out from there. This was a really amazing dive in that it was safe enough for us to be led through most of the inside of the wreck. Good stuff.

Cool shots man. As much as I like the water, scuba still freaks me out.
Braveheart owner has his dive certification and would probably be up for a dive to the Prince William wreck while you're here. I'll sail you out to the mooring pin, but then I'll just kick back and enjoy some peace and quiet while you guys swim around in the depths...
